Company Description

Solar Farm Ltd (SolarFarm) is a 5 MW [6MW DC] photovoltaic power plant located in Belchautara, Shuklagandai, Tanahun district of Gandaki Province. The project was completed on September 14, 2021 and was commissioned on October 18, 2021. SolarFarm is the first on-grid solar independent power producer to secure a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the NEA. The PPA tariff is NPR 7.3 per kWh. The electricity from the plant is supplied to the NEA grid through a 33kV transmission line.

SolarFarm had awarded an EPC contract to REnergo Developers, who have developed 500+ MW of solar projects and are working to develop a further 1000+ MW in both Nepal and India. REnergo Developers are the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contractors after the handover of the project by the EPC contractors (also, REnergo Developers).

 

Position Overview

SolarFarm is currently seeking an experienced General Manager who manages and directs staff management in project management, sales, engineering, and administration. The role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of direct reports and for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This is a full time postion

 

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall management of the project and to act in accordance with the business knowledge, skills and principles required for the purpose of management, administration, and business operations to be adopted to fulfill the objectives of the company
  • Implement the policies, regulations and instructions formulated by the Board of Directors and to carry out all the legal, administrative, and business activities on behalf of the company.
  • Accountable for key project decision making.
  • Lead the Initial public offering process.
  • Manages a collaborative project team to ensure each key functional project discipline is meeting the planned project scope, schedule and cost.
  • Lead overall project coaching, conflict resolution, facilitation, motivation and negotiation
  • Responsible for leading project meetings and Board meetings
  • Point person for contract negotiation and management
  • Accountable to develop, update and manage the project plan
  • Coordinate communication and provides status updates to stakeholders as required
  • Assess project risk and proactively develop mitigation plans
  • Proactively manages project requests for information and action items
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Controls team (O&M) to ensure that the plant is generating energy as per the PPA and monitoring the project
  • Responsible for negotiating and executing contracts and services agreements with the government officials (NEA, DOED, ERC, and Banks)
  • Responsible for coordinating with merchant banks, credit rating agencies, and regulators for IPO of the company.
  • Responsible for leading projects through all internal and external processes
  • Ensure availability or seeks out adequate resources to support the project
  • Proficient in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations to support project scope, schedule and cost objectives
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, verbal/written communications, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Achieves results by problem solving, setting priorities and organization
  • Confers with the Board and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
  • Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
  • Approve or disapprove or correct bills and payment certificates submitted by the contractor and the NEA
  • Coordinate, designate and arrange salary and cost to the project staff. Track or approve Muster Rolls
  • Supervise Environment Social Governance and implement, monitor, and review Environmental and Social requirements of the project.
  • Travel to project sites as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • MBA (Finance) or CA (qualified as well as pending qualification are encouraged to apply).
  • Utility-scale Solar/Hydro construction, engineering, and/or project management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be organized and meet deadlines by setting priorities
  • Must be able to prepare clear and concise status updates and reports as required
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
